587102 2007-09-03 03:54:00 If you turn off Picasa Media Detector in the start-up area, you'll never notice any slowdown at all .

But . . yes . . it will slowly run with that processor and if you have minimal RAM to work with .

I tried Irfanware . . or whatever it was . . . didn't like it and dumped it in the same 15 minutes after I downloaded it .

It was just too . . . too . . "weird" I think . . . . I didn't feel comfortable with it after using Picasa 2 .

Obviously I like Picasa 2/too .

587103 2007-09-03 07:53:00 Picasa works fine with an old original celeron puter and win98. However while it does have some limited editing ability it will not resize files. tutaenui (1724)
587104 2007-09-03 22:22:00 Paint .net (http://www.getpaint.net/) is supposed to be pretty good.

It has lots of plugins available if you want to get a bit more advanced.

tutaenui, Picasa can resize photos when you export them, other than that there is no feature to do it beforehand.

587105 2007-09-03 23:10:00 Isn't there suppose to be a Windows version of GIMP? Possibly a little bit overkill for this situation? Pete O'Neil (6584)
587106 2007-09-04 02:13:00 ALSO LOOK AT http://www.inkscape.org/

and

http://www.photofiltre.com/

these are both closer to Paint Shop Pro etc

Problem is that it requires .Net framework which hogs the computer down once installed

I've not noticed any difference after installing .net 1.1 & 2 other than using up diskspace. They're not running all the time, only if you use some .net apps.

587109 2007-09-05 02:02:00 FYI. Since version 3.0 Paint.net no longer supports Windows 2000 (or 9X for that matter), and requires Windows XP SP2, Vista, or Windows Server 2003 SP1, with the .NET 2 framework. bachelorno1 (6556)
