587031 2007-09-02 03:42:00 Hey.
I need help with two issues atm.

1. Sometimes when i try to turn on my PC, i would hear the fans going, but then the screen doesnt turn on, and nothing happens. After thinking it might be a hardware issue, i check all of the internals, and nothing seems to be wrong. I try again and nothing. So i check the cords, they are fine. But the problem remains. Then out of fustration i turn on the PC again, and it Works FINE!.
Then this morning the same thing happens, but it just seems like a lottery when it would boot up or not. The method i used to get it working the last day, would not help the next day, and so on.

2. I feel i need to upgrade my CPU, atm its a AMD Athlon XP Processor Model 2400+.
The motherboard i have is a compaq one, so not sure on specs.
What CPU options can i upgrade to?

So any help will be helpful.
Thanks

Make an effort to find more specs! Your infomation is like walling into a Garage and telling a mechanic you need a new engine but saying your having no idea what brand car you drive. How do expect us to help you if you don't provide enough infomation?

Seeing as its an AthlonXP you'll either need to buy a second hand CPU (and gain a small performance increase) or buy at the very minimum a new motherboard, CPU and Memory. Seeing as its a Compaq chances are you'll a new case and PSU aswell.

Your best bet is to keep the existing PC, and buy a whole new system.

Get a decent PSU .

587034 2007-09-02 07:45:00 Could be a faulty PSU, RAM, Motherboard, CPU or something as simple as a dodgy powerboard.
Intermittent problems are always the hardest to diagnose.
