586721 2007-09-01 00:06:00 Hi

Is anyone else having trouble accessing international websites this morning?

In particular:
vbaexpress.com
mrexcel.com
duckwalksintoabar.com
eBay.com

I've tried Firefox and IE as well as another PC and cannot get on to these sites. Does anyone else have the same problem?

Cheers
Andrew

586723 2007-09-01 01:40:00 Hmm - how bizarre. I still get time-out errors on my and another PC using IE and FF. Have rebooted my PC and router with no improvement..... andrew93 (249)
586724 2007-09-01 02:43:00 See if it some sort of settingthat blocking the browsers.

You can try to ping the sites and see if they answer -

click START/run type in "cmd" ( without the " ") in the box that opens type in

ping www.duckwalksintoabar.com (Press Enter) if you can get a reply then the connection is working. Ok typical it showed as a link LOL but its the actual address you type in.

you can also type in ping 66.39.140.148 ( press Enter)

Thats duckwalksintoabar.coms actual IP address

586725 2007-09-01 04:59:00 Thanks for the tip. I already tried that and whilst I can ping sites like google and get to sites like the BBC but I can't get to sites like vbaexpress, mrexcel and the duck site - eBay is intermittent. I've checked with the ISP and they reckon everything is ok from their end but they can see packets are being dropped from the overseas end. You mentioned about browsers potentially blocking access but nothing has changed since last night and I'm not sure what to check given I didn't change anything. The frustrating thing is this was working a-ok last night, switched on the PC this morning and I can't get to a whole bunch of international websites. I might just have to wait until tomorrow......

Cheers

586729 2007-09-01 07:42:00 Are you with Xtra?

I changed to ICONZ about a week ago. I'm running some online scans right now to see if anything has infected my PC (my 9yo son spent an hour on his new PC, on the same network, and picked up 188 pieces of malware in one hour) - so I'm thinking something else might have slipped through....
