| 586605 | 2007-08-31 09:00:00 | Every so often (more often than it did) Mum's computer has no signal to the monitor, the keyboard does nothing and both LEDs (power and HDD) are solid on. The only way to fix it is to press and hold the power button, unplug the power cable, wait a few seconds and plug it back in. The reset button does nothing. :badpc: :badpc: Also pressing a key on the keyboard does nothing, not even Num Lock etc. :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: I suspect a faulty power supply. Will replacing it fix the problem? If not, what will? |

| 586606 | 2007-08-31 22:08:00 | Could be several things, Memory, download Memtest from my sig and run that. Could be motherboard / or other hardware. Test /try only one thing at a time that way you can eliminate one component at a time. ( hopefully) you can also try going into the Log files quickest way - Start /Run type in "Eventvwr.msc /s" ( without the "", note space between c /s) press ( Enter/OK) Then look through system & Application logs and see what the error messages say( relating to the time of lockup) and post back here. |
