1413674 2016-01-01 22:24:00 I have a tablet (Surface 4) running Win 10, the bugger won't let download Google tool bar.

What do we make of that?, I mean how to we manage without Google??

1413675 2016-01-01 23:17:00 Never seen the need for browser toolbars anyway, you can set google as your default search engine in whatever browser you use and just search in the address bar, why would you need a separate tool bar. They just seem like clutter to me.
Or even more old school, use the google web page. Chrome obviously uses google by default, firefox already has a search bar, and IE lets you add it as a search engine and set it as default.

Weird that it won't let you download it though. There is a google app in the store if you don't mind using a modern app, but I don't see much point for that either personally.

1413676 2016-01-01 23:53:00 MMmmmmm The default browser is Edge, the search bar doesn't say what it is and I would prefer what I have been used to with google tool bar, not a big ask, is it? Cicero (40)
1413677 2016-01-01 23:59:00 Yeah simple Google page set up as suggested above. You could also try new tab set up - basically using a extension, to customize a new tab when opened. For examples I use Home - new tab page (goo.gl) in Chrome. Includes Google search, email, gmail, notifications, YouTube, etc. kahawai chaser (3545)

:+1:

Edge doesn't yet support addons anyway. In this instance that's a good thing. ;)

1413679 2016-01-02 01:43:00 As PCuser mentioned the toolbar is not available for edge, to change it's default search engine try this

A little confusing, mostly you navigate to the www.google.com (http://www.google.com) page, go to edges settings, advanced settings, find where it lets you select the search engine, select google, set as default. Seems it only lets you use google if you are on the page when you try.

Thanks Dugimodo. :) A useful tip I haven't seen elsewhere

Things are supposed to get better with time, somebody should tell somebody.

1413682 2016-01-02 04:00:00 You will find that Edge will have "Bing" as it's default search

Don't use Edge or IE myself, use PaleMoon which along with other Browsers can be configured with any search

1413683 2016-01-02 04:05:00 If you change the default as I mentioned any time you type something in the address bar and hit enter if it's not an IP address you'll go straight to the google results page, exactly as if you'd used a toolbar.

Here's more detailed instructions, just use google instead of duck duck go they use in the example www.howtogeek.com
