1413215 2015-12-22 06:28:00 I thought Vauxhall UK company had honestly vanished, being a very old company, and what with major car companies global competitiveness.. Like the demise of UK renown Hillman, Humber, Austin, Triumph, and no doubt many others.... Until I received article in my car subs from Slashgear com. Here. (www.slashgear.com) The Maloo supercharged V8 is a 6.2L engine making 536PS, which is about 528hp costing about 55, 000 (is it quid or pound, - can't find British dollar sign on my keyboard). Video here (www.youtube.com) of 2015 HSV GTS Maloo Gen-F (A ute) 0-100km/h & engine sound

Many kiwi's had the chevettes, or viva...but now V8'? Odd too perhaps how Vauxhall survived, considering don't seem to be a mainstream vehicle - well over here anyway. Mostly Fords and holden V8's...

1413216 2015-12-22 06:44:00 Vauxhall Motors is a British automotive manufacturing and distribution company headquartered in England, and an affiliated company of the German Adam Opel AG - both being wholly owned subsidiaries of General Motors (GM) in the United States. pctek (84)
1413217 2015-12-22 20:02:00 Vauxhall? Looks like a Holden Ute to me. Richard (739)
1413218 2015-12-22 20:45:00 Spot on Richard :)

The HSV in its name stands for Holden Service Vehicles

Maybe a bit like GM resurrecting an old brand like Pontiac do you think?

1413222 2015-12-22 22:57:00 Vauxhall are a mainstream vehicle in the UK. They are all Opel designs now and rebadged, but the Vauxhall brand is limited in distribution. My Dad had a 1947 14J. Richard (739)
1413223 2015-12-23 02:29:00 In these days of Badge engineering and large global companies the name on anything is not an indicator of much besides which market it's sold in really.
Any product made by any GM owned subsidary could turn up in another market with the name more locally known on it, which is what's happened here.

Then there are companies that jointly develop things and both sell it with a different name, I rather like the look of the Toyota 86 which is of course also a Subaru BRZ and in some countries a Scion FR-S

i remember being in a 65/66 Vauxhall Velox (oblong shape) and Cresta around 1969 - 72 that my uncles owned. They seem to be common along with Holden's.

My daughter's Holden Barina is a Opel Corsa from Germany.and has a massive Europe made battery. We asked the buyer - from Czechoslovakia, why so big. He told me they mostly are in Europe, because of constant sub zero temps.

But why few Vauxhall's over here? There use to be 1000's i think. In fact I'm seeing an increase in sporty Holdens and Fords and SUV's. It also suggests that Holden's don't really make or design vehicles, but piggyback on other manufacturers. Really just a distributor...They must think NZ's should think of Holden.
