2016-02-09 00:44:00 | For those who don't want to pay an arm and a leg or give your first born for a reasonably priced pillow slip, go to Spotlight and buy the queen sized ones. Incidentally, my husband likes his bamboo pillow more than I like mine. Nothing actually wrong with the pillow I just find it a bit large for me to sleep with and invariably end up tossing it over the side during the night and using another good pillow I have.

2016-02-09 02:22:00 | consumer.org.nz 21 Jan 2016 US retailers fined over bamboo claims Four retailers that misleadingly advertised rayon clothing as bamboo face penalties totaling $2 million following action taken by the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The proceedings sound a warning to retailers here that promote bamboo textiles as a “natural” choice for eco-conscious shoppers. Bamboo is heralded for its ability to grow quickly with little or no need for pesticides. However, to turn bamboo into a soft wearable fabric, the cellulose in the plant has to be chemically dissolved and bleached. The end result of this process is rayon, also known as viscose, and no traits of the bamboo plant remain. www.consumer.org.nz

2016-02-09 02:38:00 | Also www.consumer.org.nz If you’ve spent any time watching TV lately, you’ve probably seen Suzanne Paul drop a bowling ball on a Bambillo pillow. The egg underneath comes out unscathed. Our very own Suzanne (Chetwin) gave it a go but didn’t quite get the same result. Hmm – where are we going wrong? Let us know what you think on our Facebook page.

That link gets a "not found". Crikey, I never thought this thread would get to 66 posts! Two or three maybe was my estimate. |

2016-02-09 03:45:00 | Didn't NZ Consumer (or was it Fair Go) poo poo these pillows recently? Theres two types with those pillows. The originals and the cheaper copies. Tried both and you can notice a difference between the cheaper ones and the originals, the originals are much better while the copies are harder. Guess its all down to how each person likes their pillows. The ones we have are greatly improved over the ones we used to use. Instead of adding in another post -- the bowling ball test ? Dont have a bowling ball, but I did throw a full fire extinguisher on a pillow with a raw egg in a plastic bag under it, and the egg was fine.
