1413007 2015-12-17 20:05:00 Apparently most popular American Teens look like 20 something models who work out a lot. That doesn't stop me enjoying american movies/tv but it is silly.

And most US 'tv wives' are really looking, and all below 40 .
The female US actors all fall into a black hole & disappear forever at 40 , US male actors just truck along into their 60's & still have young looking 'tv wives'

1413008 2015-12-17 20:36:00 But the best TV is from the US. Of course it is, they can spend $1M++ on a single episode without blinking. With those resources of course they can produce the best and be more consistent over a longer time.

Perhaps if the OP didnt just watch the made for the masses crap & looked for the US made gems ........

The scripts too can be pretty crisp, well crafted, and even unique (though strive to be believable) for the criminal intent series and now the FBI profiler shows. Though of course condensed to an hour, whether if this really reflects if detectives solve crimes that fast in the US. But some of the young actors - particularly in confrontational court and detective interview scenes can be quite compelling in acting. I note too some old-school prominent movie actors - comedians, musicians, sport stars, and entertainers are popping up on US cop shows:- Terence Stamp - Jeremy Irons - Jerry Lewis - Liza Minelli - Clarence Clemons - Blondie - Eric Roberts- Frankie Valli - Roddy Piper - Ice Cube - etc

I recall a visiting prominent TV producer in NZ mentioned in the NZ Herald, that US shows are about seasonal ratings for survival, and that their shows have to be about producing the best of everything, even to overstate reality. 100's of jobs depend on it. if they do survive the pay rates are phenomenal (Mark Harmon on half a mi (stylecaster.com)l and more for NCIS) - even nearly unbelievable like some of the shows they act in...

1413009 2015-12-24 05:42:00 Well that is why there is a large number of different channels to choose from. If you do not like a show you are not compelled to watch it. I cannot tolerate so called 'Reality TV' myself but a lot of viewers love the cooking shows, make yourself look younger shows and the like. I guess it would be a very boring world if we all had identical interests.

A large number of channels doesn't make much difference, we have 17 free to Air Channels in Brisbane, and one is hard pushed to find anything worth watching that isn't a repeat.

Who said that opportunity does not knock twice, on Aussie TV one repeatedly gets the opportunity to watch programmes that one made a point of not watching the first, second , third etc time round.

So with that, I am sure you regret the move.:-)

1413011 2015-12-24 19:32:00 Those who like TV should watch a lot of it, often.

"Let the punishment fit the crime..."

Merry xmas to most, and enjoy what is reputed to be by far the best Friday of this week.
