| 1413485 | 2015-12-29 06:24:00 | Your one and up one kenj. Only had one in over 60yr driving and got off it because the cop lied to the Judge. :banana Still laugh about it as the cop did me for 92mph but I was probably only doing about 75mph at the time. (yes I had a real quick car) So off to Court we went. Anyway, with the help of Larry Reids Rally Tables I convinced the Judge that there was no way the Cops MK1 Zephyr could accelerate from standing to where I was stopped to catch a car doing 92mph. Old Judge Tuckwells summing-up was brilliant because he would throw out any case where he thought the Cop lied to him. It went like this: On this occasion Mr M....... I must find you not Guilty, but dont you ever do it again. :annoyed: Im damn glad I grew up in the era I did. :clap Oh, I'd spent most of the day in the pub and was going to work which was why I stopped. Oh yes. it was a good time to be a naughty boy and drive as well Ken :clap |

Fortunately, the car was always found undamaged, which is more than I could say for myself. :D |

Just follow the speed limit and you're not gonna get a ticket? Isn't that what they teach at driving school? | Nikit07 (16761) | ||

Just follow the speed limit and you're not gonna get a ticket? Isn't that what they teach at driving school? Using the safety Aspect is total BS. As its been pointed out many times, on the news by MP's and every one who uses the hill, the accidents DON'T happen on the straight stretch of road it monitors, they happen on the corners, you can easily get past the area where the cam works and still hit 100 if you wanted to ( see it all the time, If doing 80 you get past like you're going the other way). If they were really serious about safety they could put a Cam in a different location to slow people down, but if they are so ****en stupid to know where then no ones going to tell them. As Trevor Mallard said (as well as myself earlier) the only accident that's happened on that stretch of road was because of some idiot doing a U turn where you are not allowed to. I've lived in Wainui over 20 years. Ever since they put in the barrier (roughly 10 years ago) to separate the lanes there's never been a head on accident, which was a high percentage of the crashes. Rather funny isn't it that the cops are using the total of 10 years -- Surprise - BEFORE the barriers went in ;) They can put a cam outside or down near where I live if they want, the idiots that come past our place doing 100+ in a 50 is outstanding, you hear them all hours of the night winding and and going like hell. Wheres the cops at these times of night -- oh right all asleep or eating doughnuts. Don't be at all surprised the Cam gets targeted again and again by vandals. Who are they looking for -- "maybe" A stocky person wearing black clothing, with a hoodie or balaclava / bandana covering their face -- Oh wait that's most of the bike gang and some of the locals -- Good luck on finding the person. :D |

| 1413489 | 2015-12-29 09:48:00 | Mrs Micro and I visited the new bridge 4 days ago. (The pedestrian bridge crossing the road at the summit) The sides of the bridge are thick metal peppered with 8mm holes. Presumably the small holes are to prevent people dropping objects onto the traffic. I took the attached photo with my cellphone through one of the holes We were a bit put out having to go all the way into Wainuiomata to do a u-turn so that we could use the car park on the other side of the road. I was tempted to do a u-turn 100m down but thought better of it Didn't see any of the cameras! Wasn't paying attention to the speedo either. Hope nothing arrives in the post |

Hope nothing arrives in the post Using your own picture: The bigger red arrow is the actual Camera, the smaller one points to the CCTV that watches the main one for vandals. 6897 The car shown on the right hand side is roughly where the cam area works, both sides up and down. In Bold -- That's where the idiot got hit, doing a U -Turn right into oncoming traffic. Notice where the barriers start and stop ( both sides of the Hill) ? In the Accident area, you can see marks where people have hit them in what "may" have been a head on crash if they weren't there - NOT where the speed cams are. "IF" they had a few CCTV cams working watching for people doing things they were not meant to like U-Turns then I'd be all for it. Modern Cars even gliding / Coasting along can hit over 80K on that road stretch of road. |
