1413076 2015-12-17 21:02:00 Just paid $1.36/L for 91 in Otara

The pump price was $1.499/L - low enough and about par today for South Auckland pump prices - and combined with a discount on the Caltex AA Smartfuel scheme that gave me a net $1.36/L. No complaints as I was almost running on empty, and filled up at that price.

Pity we can't count on that price year round :D
Yeah my "regular pump" (goo.gl) (street view - but no pump as being built) - which usually only me present at around 10.15 pm on the way to Middlemore Hospital to pick up son where he works was full with cars to the road. The worker instructed me to go to other side, but I left - that was loaded too. Annoying - why fill then? Usually no traffic at that time...

1413077 2015-12-17 21:55:00 I have noticed some major prices differences around Auckland over the last few weeks. On the Shore until this week, most prices for 91 have been around $1.86(with a couple of notable exceptions). In the same period prices out in Pakuranga and West Auckland were $1.72 - $1.76.

Shore prices have come down to around $1.79 this week...

I was at Albany and Takapuna (North Shore) and Pakuranga/Howick last week and as you noticed prices are higher. South Auckland were I live are always lower (or the first) - notably the Papatoetoe - Otara main road - Preston road. NZ Herald discovered lower prices last year (goo.gl) along that run as well. but also New Lynn. in fact it was my usual Mobil garage that was highlighted. It is the lowest priced - and often one of the first that sets low pricing.

The motorists that really get those discounts are those from Pakuranga/Howick as they need drive along that road to work southside. The other main southside road from Howick -Te Irirangi drive- which routes through Manukau Central - again lower petrol rates...

1413082 2015-12-20 19:43:00 So how is it that they're able to offer these huge discounts? I was under the impression back in the day that the petrol stations were making ~1-2c per litre? Chilling_Silence (9)
