1418980 2016-04-12 05:03:00 Can't find 'Group Policy' settings in W10 Pro or Home. Do they exist?
I can find 'services' & 'settings'.

When I set 'Irfanview' as default for graphic files, Windows switches them back to the built in crap app. How to stop this?

Easy way -- In search type in Group and the option appears

7095

As for making infran the default, how are you changing it ??

You can either right click a picture - Open With - Select ifran, then put a tick in the box saying always use this app, if the option is not there, then select Choose another App, navigate to infrans exe and select it, again ticking the box always use this app.

Another way --- Open Settings ----- From Setting, Set fault App-- you can select pictures on the right or to be more accurate --- Oh Hell I'll show, its easier :) Watch This (screencast.com) Of course inrfan will show in the options.

Select what you want, eg: jpeg, .png ----

1418982 2016-04-12 11:09:00 Thanks, I will do that.
As for Irfanview I have tried both ways, not to worry, the built in app is not that bad.
Next project is to set up Dos Box with Professional File & Neopaint.

Yeah, whats up with that?
I installed acrobat reader , it runs OK. So then a Win10 popup tells me it doesn't like it & has switched the default pdf association back to Edge . WT very F ?
It was easy enough to change it back, but still... If I wanted Edge as a pdf reader I wouldn't have installed acrobat .

Any way to permanently stop Win10 changing any associations ?

Looks like its enough of a 'feature' (cough cough issue) that someone wrote an app to stop it. Actually a reg file that stops several different associations being reset .
Not just pdfs & pics it seems, also the default browser etc :badpc:
