| 587818 | 2007-09-04 10:59:00 | Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a desktop replacement gaming notebook when my desktop is obsolete, but right now i need a notebook that runs maya. Shall i spend like 1k for a notebook that runs maya or just get a desktop replacement gaming laptop sooner and about 2.5k dearer? My desktop is a athlon xp 2600+ running win xp with a geforce 6800GS (it stills runs games pretty sweet but is getting old fast especially with direct X X around the corner). |

Are you always carting your computer round with you? if not, definatly get a desktop as you will get a lot more for your $$$ as far as processing power etc goes. 2.5k on a desktop would get you a real beast of a computer that would have no trouble running maya, whereas a laptop for 2.5 would be fairly standard and wouldn't be nearly as 'grunty'. |
