587826 2007-09-04 09:48:00 Hi

Does anyone use Netgear modems that has built in wireless?

I went to the configuration settings by typing http://192.168.0.1

I then went to wireless settings and ticked "Enabled wireless access point"
but after rebooting the router. The computer couldn't detect any wireless network.I tried it on a laptop and it still couldn't detect any wireless network

Did I forget something?

587827 2007-09-04 09:51:00 1) How close is the computer and the router?
2) Is the router blinking all right?

Can't think of anymore intelligent questions at the moment.

Cheers :)

587828 2007-09-04 09:54:00 Click on Wireless Settings and check the following settings:
Name (SSID): Either use the default (NETGEAR) or enter your own network name
Region: New Zealand
Channel: 11
Mode: G & B

Tick both 'Enable Wireless Access Point' and 'Allow Broadcast of Name (SSID)', set the Security Option to 'WPA-PSK+WPA2-PSK' and enter a password for your wireless network (at least 8 characters) in the Network Key field.

There are 4 lights

The power light ,the tick light, some random upside down question mark light and a wireless light I think

1st light,3rd light and the 4th light is glowing

The computer is 1m away from the router

All the settings are correct and are ticked

With the security option . I don't think I should put a password as Im just testing it out to check if my friend's laptop which she bought today is working properly but my wireless isnt working

587833 2007-09-04 10:21:00 Under Router status it says

Wireless Port
Name (SSID) NETGEAR
Region New Zealand
Channel 11
Wireless AP Enabled
Broadcast Name Enabled

So...Any ideas why its not working?

587835 2007-09-04 11:47:00 Does the laptop have a switch to enable wireless networking?
