| 587793 | 2007-09-04 06:30:00 | I have just installed D-Link DI -634M 108G Mimo Router linked with a Dynalink RTA 1335. These 2 are connected to my garage PC, then the wireless is feeding a laptop and bedroom PC. I bought the D-LInk router 2nd hand, and I have got it all up and running my question is how do I alter the original name given to the router and how do I make it secure, how do I access the router to do these changes? |

The security should be in the same page. Hint: set up the wireless and make sure its working BEFORE you enable the security, that way there is nothing blocking the setup, once your network is working and you can browse the internet, then enable security. Here (www.dlink.co.nz)is the manual for the DI-624, I know you said yours is the 634M but I cant locate it on D-Links site. the basic setup should be the same. ( The link takes you to the site, manuals on right of page, installiation guide - the PDF manual.) You can also follow the wizard through and it will allow setup also. |

Mind you have not used D-link in a while as I had way to many failures. Hell I even got a brand new DI-704P router Still in the shrink wrap that I can't even give away :groan: |

| 587798 | 2007-09-05 09:35:00 | Yup, enable WEP (if you have it, use WPA or something higher) and then assign a password (key) and disable SSID broadcast. Disable SSID only after you have set up the secured connection and tick "Connect even if not broadcasting" box and then disable SSID broadcast just to save you time and effort. |
