Hi,I have new laptop with vista.The problem is that it doesnt like shutting down.When I shut it down it keeps starting up again and I have to do this 3 or 4 times before finally closing down.Any ideas out there? |

Are you turning off from the start menu or by pressing the power button? |

Its having trouble closing someting at a guess. You have removed possible malware? And cleaned out the clutter? Removed unnecessary items from startup? All that stuff? |

The power button on the laptop itself and on the Start Menu (Is that what's called in Vista??) are usually set to default to Hibernate or standby rather than a full power off.
Might be having problems going into this mode. |

Yup, you have to click on the small arrow and then select Shut Down although the poster mentions that he has to do this 3-4 times so what are the chances that the first 3 times he hits Hibernate and then suddenly presses Shut Down? |
