587321 2007-09-03 04:59:00 Hi,
I am wanting to shutdown certain client workstations at the end of the day. I would rather not create a batch to do this so i was wondering if there was a way to do this using group policy, i have had a quick poke around with no luck.

Cheers,
J

587325 2007-09-03 06:33:00 Tell everyone in your group to do it themselves when they leave work... Lazy Buggers:lol: beeswax34 (63)
587326 2007-09-03 08:08:00 You can do it from within the active directory.

But have a look at These (pcwin.com) truck loads of different apps.

587328 2007-09-03 08:33:00 Also found This (www.windowsecurity.com) article, may help a little, plenty of sugegstions.

You can always get Vista installed ( Yeah Right), it has a shut down schedule built in - real handy for getting the kids off the PC at night, gives a warning before the scheduled time it shuts down & unless pass word is put in you cant stop it.

Now what was that pass word again:xmouth:

587329 2007-09-03 10:18:00 whats the big deal with writing a batch file anyway? all you need to do is call shutdown.exe
Have done this often in my own network.

587330 2007-09-03 19:53:00 because in a massive network you don't want to have to schedule a batch file to do a shutdown on 100 seperate computers. I'd rather centralize it with a GPO.

Cheers Wainui I'll have a read of that article.
