587868 2007-09-04 11:22:00 After around 30 minutes of use like surfing the net or watching a movie

The laptop on windows Vista running dual core with 2GB ram freezes and then after 20 seconds the screen becomes completely black but the power remains on.I have to switch the laptop off by pressing the power button but powering it on again it doesn't seem to boot into windows. The screen becomes completely black but the power indicator lights up and the fan is spinning inside. After 10 minutes of waiting the laptop seems to return to normal and boot into windows but again after around 30 minutes of watching a movie and this time not connected online thehe notebook freezes again and then goes into the black screen mode.

This iswhat it looks like

587871 2007-09-04 11:36:00 Well first of all i recommend that you stop using IE and get Firefox or Opera.
Also, i would suggest that you DON"T download that torrent for Reg Optimizer as it will likely screw with your pc even more.
If you must use a registry program use CCleaner.

The problem is unusual and apart from suggesting some form of gfx card failure im not really too sure.
But if it was hardware failure - i wouldn't expect it to come right after a few minutes, but it doesn't look like spyware....?

Not sure!

587872 2007-09-04 12:30:00 Yes,

My ex bought the notebook today so I never got around installing Opera yet.

It wouldn't have spyware as she only used it for like half an hour

Obviously. It's got, like, two freaking flames coming out of the screen in that picture.

If you only just bought it I would take it back.
Say it is DOA (Dead on Arrival) and tell them to replace it.

Thats can be a sign of a faulty graphic's card normally. Or damaged drivers.

Since its New, take it back. Being a retailer my self, I can tell you if its only a day old you are entitled to a replacement on the spot (assuming they have another to give you) Its possibly DOA.

Your comment regarding the spyware - WRONG you can get a PC infected in a matter of seconds if you download a dodgy or spyware infected program, same with viruses, it only takes a few seconds on the internet.

Looking at the picture supplied at least you have a good AV - Nod32 installed:thumbs:
