587847 2007-09-04 09:43:00 Is it possible to replace a current Intel Celeron 32bit CPU with a P4 64bit CPU? Don't seem to be able to buy a P4 32bit CPU. Most retailers website only offer 64bit. Advice welcome. Thanks. ephesus (2509)
587848 2007-09-04 09:51:00 Does your motherboard support P4 64Bit? Bantu (52)
587849 2007-09-04 09:56:00 No..I don't think so. It only says it supports LGA775 up to P4 3.20Ghz. ephesus (2509)
587850 2007-09-04 10:08:00 Check Trademe for one of those then would be a good start maybe. Or some dealers might still have some left in stock.

PB Technologies http://www.pbtech.co.nz are showing 3 x 3.0Gb P4's on their site.
C1 http://c1com.co.nz showing but not sure if out of stock or not.

Check your motherboard manufacturers website for BIOS updates chances are the motherboard probably supports the new Pentium D as well. Do you know what chipset your motherboard uses?

Anything with a LGA775 socket should be fairly easy to find a CPU for, the LGA775 Pentium's aren't that old. Theres even a small chance you may be able to use a Core 2 Duo which would be a huge performance increase.
