| 588543 | 2007-09-06 08:42:00 | Hi, This has just started in the past week. Sometimes I will try to delete a message from the Inbox, or move it to a folder and I'll get messages such as "Cannot delete file", "An error has occurred", "Error". If I look at a folder, there will be nothing in it. If I close OE and reopen everything is fine, untill the next time it happens. I have deleted old messages, done a compact messages, run a system defrag and run Spybot, Ad-Aware, AVG, but it is still happening. Any ideas? Thanks. |

Outlook express could be corrupting, 2 Gb is the limit. to find out open the .dbx folders and select properties to see total amont. Heres how: open outlook express Tools/options /Maintenance tab/ Store folder Highlight all text in there /copy Close outlook express click "Start / run - paste the location - press Enter/OK Right click a blank part of the folder, properties and see how much is being used |

| 588545 | 2007-09-06 19:19:00 | Thanks Wainui, I thought the same from searching and reading an earlier thread. I did delete quite a lot of emails, and at present OE has 180MB in it. | Grimy (3041) | ||
| 588546 | 2007-09-12 08:13:00 | Still having the occasional problem. Tonight when opening an email this message came up. "Message could not be displayed Outlook Express encountered an unexpected problem while displaying this message. Check your computer for low memory or low disk space and try again". Close OE and reopen, and everything is back to okay. I have 2Gb of RAM and about 140Gbs of free hard drive. |

Ask the Outlook user to please use plain text or HTML . Whoever is sending you emails, are they using Outlook?? If you know who they are? |

| 588551 | 2007-09-12 09:14:00 | It happens on folders with emails I've had for ages. Seems to be random and only started happening in the last couple of weeks. I can try to open a folder that I know has 2, 10 or 50 emails, and it will display as empty until I shut down OE and then go back in and it's all good. Tonight was the first time trying to open a new email that I got the error message. As with the folders, if I close and then open OE I could open the email. I don't think it's a message/source problem, but an OE one. |

| 588552 | 2007-09-12 10:21:00 | Hmmmm - Don't know if This (www.microsoft.com) will be of any help. Just be careful about compacting if you run through the site suggestions, I have heard of people losing emails if you do that. I'd suggest you take a copy of all .dbx files, (instructions from my earlier post if you forgot how) Just in case - dont want to lose anything if you don't have to. Also have a look at the wording under the picture of the compacting, there's a link there also worth reading about. Good luck:) |
