588438 2007-09-06 03:03:00 Hi,
I was given a new sub for Network guide, for a birthday- one of many many in total:groan: - and subsequently, the firm sent me a "Superman Returns " double video which I was told could be played on my computer--yeah right !!
I loaded one of the DVD onto my cd/r rom, and clicked on E drive- saw the flash of an icon of a CD, on screen- then nothing.
I don't care about the Superman as such but, why, when even the DVD says it can be played- it will not?
Part of my re search shows it needs Windows Media v 10, which I have, and as well I have "Nero" video available, if it is relevant.
I have sent the initial CD set back after being told it was faulty and after the second lot arrived, got exactly the same.
I sent both back to Auckland where they say they played normally, - sent yet a third set down this morning and I still get nothing
Any help would be gratifying.
Auckland have just sent an e mail saying that perhaps some W /media v10 do not have the ability to play and I T people say it cannot be done anyway.
I see a dvd decoder at Windows ( US$ 19.83 ) but am advised I have sufficient ability already
:help:

You need a DVD-writer/DVD-ROM, NOT a CD to play DVD's.

Do you have a DVD-ROM on your PC?

588440 2007-09-06 03:58:00 Hi Speedy,
Not as far as I am aware- I think I bought the cd/r as the best thing, for my uses- and I have used it,but until today thought I could use that - apparently not
poor me I won't see Superman Returns" - I am sad ---- at my age I am disinclined to believe in Superman, odd that it be :D
Thank you , as usual for a good reply

588441 2007-09-06 04:09:00 No worries :)

Umm you'll need a DVD-ROM (replace the normal cd), if u want to play DVD's on your computer.

DVD's definitely WONT play on a cd-rom. (If it isnt a DVD).
