2007-09-07 05:27:00 | So how come it works fine for me? I mean its not all the stuff I have is 100% bullet proof legal. I play my own home videos, I edit a lot of my captured TV files and play them AND the edited files just fine. How come everyone else has so many issues with it? I know its not perfect and I use VLC when its easier but still, WMP11 for me is the best.

2007-09-07 06:21:00 | Might I suggest VLC for your DVD's. and an alternative for your music collection. It would seem the WMP11 has become a big pain in the butt | plod (107) | |
2007-09-07 09:12:00 | I think WMP11 is great, the trick is to get rid of all the crap on installation (there isnt much) just go to custom install | rob_on_guitar (4196) | |

I have NEVER had an issue with it playing any file that WMP 9 or 10 could! and I play a lot of vids and music... There is music playing now... | The_End_Of_Reality (334) | ||

2007-09-07 15:24:00 | So how come it works fine for me? I mean its not all the stuff I have is 100% bullet proof legal . I play my own home videos, I edit a lot of my captured TV files and play them AND the edited files just fine . How come everyone else has so many issues with it? I know its not perfect and I use VLC when its easier but still, WMP11 for me is the best . Eventually this problem will be fully understood . . but don't just give it a blanket OK as you know there are a lot of people worldwide with many problems and issues with it . . including me . Honestly, you know as well as I that there are really no two installs of anything that act exactly the same for everyone . . it's almost like there's a little gremlin in some systems that just says: "No" to things that don't bother anyone else . Right now I opt for over cautious . . as we all know what a schnook Bill is and his new bedmates (MPAA/RIAA) are not there for fun . . they want to control all the media in all the world and they might be acting where they think they can get away with it the easiest . . the US . The laws here are on the cusp of change and I think they might be testing the waters to make it international in scope after the lay a foundation in the US courts first . The courts are going to wait for better backup . . and they'll get that after the next election which is gonna swing Democrat . . and this is the "pander-to" party for the media moguls and CEOs of movies, records and communications . Here's where (US) you are gonna have to watch the action . . sorry if that makes you angry . . but you know it as well as I that as the US goes in copyright and registered trademarks and RootKits and such Sony stuff that you saw just a couple of years ago . . it will be tried and then eventually sent out to everywhere . The Dems were the party in power when the telephone fiasco happened in the US . They destroyed the best phone system in the world and opened it up to Mom-n-Pop companies that still haven't gotten their act together and we pay for that dearly . Time will tell . . but I suggest before you give WMP11 a clean bill . . please consider that there are a lot of others who would like to see you in person and tell you their story . I cannot advise anyone that v11 is good . . not from personal experience nor the pondus of evidence to the contrary so far .

2007-09-09 01:05:00 | Media player 11 is great, I can play my divx files, use quicktime alternative for MOV, WMV-HD works well with VRM9 and DXVA. It's library is much improved too, I can now group all the slightly different named artists together too, eg &/and Anyway, as no-one has actually tried to solve your problem might I suggest that you look into your mpeg2 decoder, either reinstall it or locate a tool like deccheck.exe to see which is the default mpeg2 decoder. If you know where your mpeg2 decoder came from then try reinstalling it, eg powerdvd or ffdshow. If it just 'always worked' then run deccheck.exe to find out how it's been working. You could also look into how media player renders the video, not sure of how the interface works on the old version, it could be something like 'hardware acceleration' or perhaps worded like 'use overlay' I'd suggest refreshing your mpeg2 decoder, and upgrading to media player 11 as well.
