| 588415 | 2007-09-09 07:30:00 | Well, well . Under APPLICATIONS: X's don't appear in the last few days record . But question marks appear heaps for userenv (can't unload a classes registry file) . Under SYSTEM: X's appear lots of times for Service Control Manager - under properties it says; Event Type: Error Event Source: Service Control Manager Event Category: None Event ID: 7000 Date: 9/09/2007 Time: 3:42:31 p . m . User: N/A Computer: DAD Description: The NetBEUI Protocol service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified . X's also appear for DCOM: Properties say: Event Type: Error Event Source: DCOM Event Category: None Event ID: 10010 Date: 9/09/2007 Time: 7:41:46 a . m . User: DAD\Dad Computer: DAD Description: The server {078AEF33-C48A-49F7-AFF3-A0EE810BFE7C} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout . One X appear next to this listing: Event Type: Error Event Source: MRxSmb Event Category: None Event ID: 8003 Date: 8/09/2007 Time: 5:08:55 p . m . User: N/A Computer: DAD Description: The master browser has received a server announcement from the computer MUM that believes that it is the master browser for the domain on transport NwlnkNb . The master browser is stopping or an election is being forced . Hope you can make more sense of it than me? |

| 588416 | 2007-09-09 08:42:00 | Get this (www.microsoft.com) For the can't unload a classes registry file error. For the others, click on under where it says: For more information, see Help and Support Center at It gives u a site/url. For the Netbeui error try this (windowsxp.mvps.org) The 10010 error maybe similar to this (support.microsoft.com) And error 8003 (msdn2.microsoft.com) Looks like you've configured something wrong. Is Windows up to date with updates? |

| 588417 | 2007-09-09 10:56:00 | OK, I've downloaded & installed the 1st windows fix you said . And I've changed the Netbeui settings - uninstalled netbeui . The error/fix 10010 didn't seem appropriate - so I skipped that one . The error/fix 8003 seems to be on the mark . Here's what it says: Event Message: The master browser has received a server announcement from the computer computer name that believes that it is the master browser for the domain on transport name . The master browser is stopping or an election is being forced . Source Event Log Event ID Event Type Browser System 8003 Error Explanation: The subnet mask of the Windows 2000 client computer is incorrect or is different from the primary domain controller . The client computer has attempted to promote itself to the master browser of the subnet and has failed because only one computer in a domain can be running as the master browser . User Action: Change the TCP/IP protocol configuration to the correct subnet mask . I don't know what to change . Is it saying the IP Addresses are incorrect? The address for MUM is 202 . 150 . 111 . 193 & DAD(XP) is 169 . 254 . 244 . 179 . I have set each this way: DAD is IP ADDRESS: 169 . . . Subnet Mask 255 . 255 . 255 . 0 & MUM is: 202 . . Subnet Mask same at 255 . . . Is this wrong? I can't get the latest windows updates - every time I try it dies before it really gets downloading . Whether I select custom or (is it express) it makes no difference . It quickly comes back with - Updates were NOT installed! |

| 588418 | 2007-09-09 17:03:00 | yeh I can see why they dont communicate: you have 202.150.111.193 169.254.244.179 you should have them like this: 202.150.111.193 202.150.111.194 see the difference ? if you have one pc on this network ip addy: 202.150.111.193 and your subnet mask as 255.255.255.0 then the first THREE sets of numbers MUST be the same and you can modify the last set to anything between 1-254 |
