my speakers, plugged into the speaker jackpoint of the pc have always hummed- quite annoying. the volume of hum is constant regardless of voulme on speaker or PC setting. setting the volume controls in settings to 'mute' on windows doesn't affect it either. any suggestions? many thanks!! |

The hum is coming from the amplifier in your speakers, possibly because of inadequate regulation of a/c to d/c in the power supply to your amp. You could try another plugpack (if its a separate item). |

its a logitech bass and seperate satellite l and r, so power supply is contained in the bass unit (a box with speaker). I have tried plugging ipod into speakers- and no hum? |

This is quite common. Check your volume levels. If you have the volume on your amplified speakers set high and control the overall volume with your computer then you will get hum, most of the time, as the amp. in the speaker setup will be amplifiying the background noise picked up by the connection cable. Set the volume on your computer to just short of full volume and reduce the volume at the speakers. This should solve your problem. |
