589907 2007-09-10 07:24:00 Hello everyone.

I have a Dynalink 1320 ADSL+2 connected with Linksys Wireless-N Broadband Router. So yeah I connect wireless. Now both have a hardware firewall on them, the question is..... do both firewalls need to be on or just the dynalink f.w or Linksys fw? I also have Vista firewall as well. :help:

Thanks

589908 2007-09-10 09:43:00 Well theres absolutely no harm in keeping the hardware firewalls on. In fact, I'm not sure how to turn it off on my Linksys router. Keep all of them all including the software based Vista one. No such thing as too much security. beeswax34 (63)

The only way around this is to set all three firewalls to allow or block identical traffic, in which case there is absolutely no benefit of multiple firewalls. Your network will be much easier to manage if you pick the best of the three, and disable the others. iwalmsley (12803)

I'd have one hardware one and the install a 3rd party software firewall as well.
