| 589565 | 2007-09-11 03:52:00 | The rooter is D-Link DSL-G604T. I'm not sure if its avalible on my sisters pc, i'll ask if i can use it when she gets home According to the manual from D -Links site, the gateway for that router that you type in the web browser is http://10.1.1.1 User Name admin Password admin If you need the manual it will be a PDF file on the CD that came with the router. If you dont have it, download it fromHere (www.dlink.co.nz) then you will see all your configeration settings / locations as required. |

| 589568 | 2007-09-11 07:10:00 | Update. Tried dial a fix, didint help ethier =( Only other thing I can think of trying thats quick - can you connect a ethernet lead to the router and PC, a direct link - to test if it works that way. Its a matter of finding out is it software or hardware. OPPS gotta go for dinner back soon to try one more setting |

| 589569 | 2007-09-11 21:48:00 | Long Dinner eh! I think the site went down as I couldn't get back in last night. Okay - Here are Long list of things to also try. Make a restore point before you try each of these( unless 1 suddenly works of course) Learn this as you will be doing a couple of times. Open a command prompt - Click Start/run type in cmd thats the command prompt window( black box) Note any spaces in the commands I give, I will use " " for the command, but dont put in " ". A ----.type in "ipconfig/all" under the Windows IP Configuration, look for Node Type. If it says "peer to peer" or similar do this - (Broardcast is OK) 1. Click Start/Run regedit ENTER 2. Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\NetBT\Parameters 3. Left click on 'Paramters' to highlight it. At the top of the window click on File and select Export ... - give the file a name and save to a place where it can be easily found. 4. Right click on Parameters and highlight New - select DWORD value - name the value NodeType (one word) ENTER. 5. Double click on NodeType - select Decimal and enter a value of 1 Click OK, close registry editor, and reboot. See if that makes any difference. if not then try this - This will rebuild / default the tcp/ip stack back to default. (Network Protocol) B.1. From the Start menu, choose Run. 2. In the Open field, type cmd. 3. Click the OK button. 4. At the command prompt, type: "netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt" 5.press the ENTER key - Reboot. Note: The box should flash very quickly as if nothing happened (on that command), thats what its meant to do.Then return to C:\documents and settings\------ If that doesn't work Try this - C. Download Winsockfix (www.iup.edu) Follow the instruction on the site. If that doesn't work then you can make three choices, - You select which ones Try a non distruct reinstall - To do a Non- Distruct - place the XP cd in the Drive, boot from it Agree to all the licences etc F8 Next screen will give options, Install windows, repair and a couple of others, select Install Windows ( enter) It will then look for a previous install - if it finds it ( you will see it in the box) select R It will delete windows files, then reload - you will need your 25 digit product key at some stage - follow the onscreen istructions. If that still doesn't work after all that you may have to see if it is actually the PCI Card - try another card. And third- do a complete reinstall after saving any data you don't want to lose, as this will wipe your drive clean. IF after doing all of the above its still not connecting then there is a hardware problem that only someone who knows how to test hard ware can fix. Overclocking as you have found out can have adverse affects on some PC's you only really want to try that if you know how to fix anything that happens, then again it could be Coincidence that the conenction was lost. Final thought - The first line in my SIG below:lol: |
