2007-09-08 20:35:00 | Just installed IE7 and can't change the home page. Done the standard tools/internet options/apply...thing, but it won't stick. I have no spyware etc installed, I'm positive. I've googled this but no joy and so am hoping for a good Kiwi solution please guys. | yorkshirekid (9033) | |
2007-09-08 20:39:00 | Are you running Ad-Aware or some other anti-spyware program in the background? These will stop the home page from being changed.

2007-09-08 22:15:00 | Not from England - I'm from YORKSHIRE !!!!!! Anyway - I've cracked it. Hope this helps others. You need to open regedit and change or add these values: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main] "RunOnceComplete"=dword:00000001 "RunOnceHasShown"=dword:00000001

2007-09-08 22:26:00 | Did u go through the rigmarole of selecting whatever search engines etc you wanted to use?? BEFORE you changed the homepage? | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2007-09-09 00:17:00 | Speedy G - As i said, if: Done the standard tools/internet options/apply...thing, does not cover it, then I'm not clear on what you mean sorry. | yorkshirekid (9033) | |
2007-09-09 00:23:00 | Well thats not what I meant. Go to tools / internet options / advanced . Click on reset. Then start all over again. This time it should go to some site, asking u to select some search engines / save settings. Then change the homepage to whatever. Close IE, then see if it works properly.

2007-09-09 04:25:00 | Nope, that reset everything to default and i had to do the reg hack again. I did as you suggested up to the point:it should go to some site, asking u to select some search engines / save settings. I never saw that offered. Thanks anyway SpeedyG. You've actually helped me in the past and I always value you input. Cheers :-)
