If you have broadband with copper wire and an ADSL modem could you please comment on your connections.

Eg do you find it easy to get on to the web - first time every time ?

Do you ever get cut off ?

I would be interested to compare notes

Kind Regards

I match your criteria .
This is an always on connection . I can be on the web all the time .
If you are referring to certain sites then one or more may be down .

I have not been cut off .

My home page is http://www . nzcity . co . nz and sometimes it is not there for me .

590890 2007-09-13 20:24:00 When I'm connected it's always on yes. Usually I connect 1st time every time, although about 2 months ago I was having issues with my ISP and my connection was dropping regularly and sometimes it would take a while to get reconnected, longest disconnection I had was about 7 hours.

Apart from that I don't have any gripes about my connection really although I do wish I could get a higher upload speed (on 128 at the moment) but I won't get a similar plan to the one I'm on now if I go to full/full.

My current plan is full/128, with no data cap @ $49/95/month.

Cheers

590894 2007-09-13 21:29:00 When I went to a mates place, about 2 weeks ago, to remove Spyshredder from his system, I noticed Comodo was blocking his ADSL connection.

I was there for about 3 hrs, and after an hr or so, thats when it stopped working (You couldnt go to any sites).

I rebooted the system a few times, and the LAN icon on the taskbar kept showing a X (it wasnt connecting). So, I uninstalled Comodo.

And rebooted about 6 times, to see if that fixed it, it did.

It didnt matter, whether I added the connection to Comodo, or not, it wouldnt connect, when I rebooted.

590895 2007-09-13 21:30:00 First time everytime in the mornings. Still occasionally have problems late afternoon/evening, 4-8pm ish. Slow, sometimes lose connection. Doesn't happen as often as it used to.

My guess is the person with no data cap has a legacy plan. If they're lucky, they'll make it to the new lot of naked plans sure to come out with unbundling. If not, they'll be like the rest of us chumps & have to pay the same $50 for a castrated plan.

Quicksilver now run by Woosh

Correct .. . started with Jetstream then moved to a 10GB plan provided by Quicksilver, which was then UPGRADED to fs/128, NO CAP @ $49.95 from Woosh, when the unleashing 1st began .. .

Whilst I would love to get fs/fs I would lose the no cap benefit and have to pay $20 more .. . so at this stage I will chug along with what I have .. . upload speed isn't crucial to me at this stage but there are occassions where I would like the added bonus of a faster upload speed.

Cheers

590897 2007-09-14 06:47:00 Yup, I get on the net/homepage/any site, first time every time. Woosh so far has never timed out on me or cut me off EXCEPT when they are repairing or updating the firmware on the modem OR weather conditions cause a bit of mayhem but only for like 5mins at most. beeswax34 (63)
