590773 2007-09-13 09:35:00 Hi Speedy. I nave downloaded Poptray to have a look at it but see no instructions. PJ:confused:

Not too sure if Poptray works with Xtra now, (If youre with Xtra), but all you have to do is go to:

Accounts, put your username/pw in.

Options / interval is where u put in the secs (Poptray will check for email whatever u put here).

Options / general options, tick the 2nd and 3rd option.

Options / user interface. Change the first option to whatever u want.

Options / whitelist/blacklist. Add ppl you know to the white. Spammers / domains in the blacklist.

Thats it.

Mail tab. If its a spam email, right mouse / lists / add to blacklist / someone you know to the whitelist.

If u want rules, put these in.

1. Suspected spam, all accounts, any row, header contains [SUSPECTED SPAM]

2. Spam same as above, but header contains [SPAM]

Tick delete from server, and click on save.

Help is there u right mouse on the icon in the taskbar.

590774 2007-09-13 09:57:00 PopTray works fine on my computer which is connected to Xtra but I'm buggered if I can get it to work on a mates computer that is also connected to Xtra. :angry

Anyway, we'll both be gone as soon as we make up our mind which ISP suits us best.

I've been looking at Kinect - Trust Power but as I've said in another thread I can't get onto their site this evening which isn't encouraging.

590775 2007-09-13 10:10:00 I cannot believe that it is not possible to shut them down. It might take a "dedicated Govt outfit" to do it, or a consortium of ISPs. But surely it can be done. Please don't preach to me about Privacy. MY privacy is being invaded. Why not theirs? PJ

Almost all is sent from overseas, from dodgy places such in in china and russia so ther is no control over it. My spam has recently got a lot worse, and I don't use xtra.

I would also setup spam protection with xtra, as it does work better than nothing, and essentially contining to use their services, means you are agreeing to their T&Cs anyway.

590776 2007-09-20 05:39:00 Peter Gregory here from TrustPower Kinect. Apologies for not being able to access the site www.kinect.co.nz

The site is up and running and we would love to have you on board as customers. Check out our banking unused data policy. "If you don't use it, you don't loose it" unlike other ISP's

Might this be the wrong thread to post in Peter? You want the one where someone asked why your webpage was not available and about your services.

590778 2007-09-20 22:55:00 Mailwasher or PopTray and there are others out there, at least you can filter out and delete the junk before downloading it especially if you have been away from your computer or a day or two leaving only the remaining messages to be downloaded. 20 spam a day is probably not a lot when you look at the big picture, wait till it gets to 20 a hour or worse, then Mailwasher or PopTray really come into there own, 30 seconds or less and the junk has been deleted from the server and you download the remaining good stuff. Bouncing via Mailwasher though is fruitless considering that nearly all of the spam has forged return paths including in cases your own address so you just bounce to yourself. PinoyKiw (9675)
