590580 2007-09-12 09:28:00 I can't get Limewire to connect. It is an exception under Windows Firewall so should be ok.....

Running XP, Spybot with Teatimer, AVG, and Adaware.

Where should I look because I can't find anything so far?

590581 2007-09-12 09:45:00 Are you using a router? Have you enabled port forwarding for the affected port? Myth (110)

I confess that port forwarding etc is a bit beyond me at the moment. However it used to work.

I have a hub modem and a home network.

Limewire shows a wall icon on the bottom left so it is definitely being blocked.

590584 2007-09-12 10:12:00 Short answer - no idea. I only fire it up about every two months. I had a suspicion that Windows Defender might disable Likewire but haven't come across any confirmation of that.

I think I'll just uninstall and reinstall.

590585 2007-09-12 11:24:00 Tried shutting down Windows Defender and then running Limewire? beeswax34 (63)
590586 2007-09-12 11:24:00 To solve your portforwarding question, go to this website (www.portforward.com), choose your router, and then choose your application and it will tell you exactly how to forward the ports. Bozo (8540)
590587 2007-09-13 02:03:00 Thanks Demonhunter.

I reinstalled Limewire but no joy. Incidentally my wife also installed it on her pc at the same time last night and it runs fine so obviously there is something in my system causing the problem.

590588 2007-09-13 08:20:00 Possibly something to do with what you were downloading was copyright material, and the Southland Law Society has placed some secret monitoring software on your PC Winston?

Just a random theory...
