591724 2007-09-16 08:02:00 Yeah, I've been getting false spyware alert boxes, and my desktop has been changed to a html file saying

"Warning! A spyware threat has been detected on your system.
Your computer has several fatal errors due to spyware ativity.
Your IP adress is 222.155.27.144 and via this Ip... blahblahblah"

When I try to run task manager, it says it has been disabled by the system administrator. >:(

Help please.

591726 2007-09-16 09:04:00 I've run Rouge Remover, and says there aren't any Rouges.

As with Trojan Remover, it removed some stuff, but I still have the fake background, and the occasional false security alert.

591727 2007-09-16 11:46:00 Get Avast and Spybot-SD and try using those as well. beeswax34 (63)

Not necessarily, I did one the other day and it was a different thing altogether. Same alert type pop up though.
Spybot killed it.

591730 2007-09-16 20:24:00 A smitfraud fix (siri.geekstogo.com)/spybot (www.safer-networking.org) combo will get rid of it.

With the Smitfraud fix, boot up in safe mode, and run options 1 through 3. Then reboot. Also clear out the system restore cache, and temp files.

591731 2007-09-17 04:04:00 I've run avast, and everything is fine apart from the fact I STILL can't run taskmanager. Running Spybot now. Eklypse77 (12650)
591732 2007-09-17 04:17:00 Run trojan remover again and select all options under the utilities menu.

Did you click on update to make sure it had been updated?

Avast is fine for viruses.
In addition you should always be running at least 2 antispyware programs.
And download Boclean too for a resident program.
