591289 2007-09-14 22:57:00 Which would you choose?

Why are you doing a poll on such old processors?

591290 2007-09-14 22:58:00 I voted the Celeron D, but only because it has more MHz. :D pcuser42 (130)

Why not and because I can - I'm just interested in people's opinions

Wondered who would ask that :D

The P3 would be faster, remember, a Celeron is slower than a Pentium depending on the clock speed difference.... even though the Celeron is 50MHz faster, in this case the Pentium would be better.

Not necessarily true! The P3 and P3 based Celerons use exactly the same architecture the Celerons simply had some Lvl2 cache disabled and lower FSB. Without knowing the Lvl2 cache and FSB's of the two CPUs you can't make an informed decision.

591294 2007-09-15 06:10:00 the p3 where definitely faster. both p2 and p3 where 100mhz fsb (with exception of the first p2)

however in its day the celeron was the budget king for a bit due to being able to overclock the hell out of it. you could get p3 performance at a lot cheaper price.

Oops. I meant Celeron.

Celeron: 128K L2 Cache, 66Mhz FSB

P3: 256K L2 Cache, 100Mhz FSB
