591284 2007-09-14 21:03:00 When my pc starts up this error message appears: "The application has failed to start because mfc71.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem".
I've googled it and it appears that it is not absolutely necessary, but I'm a bit uneasy, as; why did it happen in the first place and I don't really trust the sites that offer a free scan "including mfc71.dll". AdAware & Spybot don't throw up anything that looks like it could be a worry.
If I need to, it looks easy enough to fix, just download it and install it, but, once again, it has to be from a site that doesn't want to install anything else as well.
Could this somehow link in to all that rotten spam I've been getting the last 2-3 weeks.
Am I getting paranoid or what:eek:

591285 2007-09-14 21:14:00 It'll be something in startup thats running on bootup, and its missing this file.

Have you got an AV program installed, the ones you listed ARENT AV programs.

Depending on what version of Windows youre using this dll file SHOULD be in the system32 folder. Well, it is on here.

591286 2007-09-14 21:23:00 Go to This Site (http://www.dll-files.com/) the quickest way is to do a search in the window in the middle of the page, locate your missing dll file, and download it. Nothing to download apart from the actual dll you want.

Hint: they normally come through for as a php file, I looked for yours and its mfc71.php < that is correct.

Rename it to mfc71.zip, and inside you will find your dll. Extract it to someplace (desktop maybe) then copy /paste into the system32 folder as speedy said.

Should fix the problem
