| 592691 | 2007-09-19 08:55:00 | Am new to broadband having just moved to Telstra cable high Speed - 2 desktops and 1 laptop hardwired to a router. Not happy with speed achieved. According to speedtest.com haven't threatened a download speed of 1Mbps. Telstra technical assistance says a router will always drastically reduce speed. Any truth in this? |

| 592692 | 2007-09-19 09:07:00 | Log into your router and tell us what the signal strength is. If it is 7000kb/s + then you can expect speeds a lot faster. I think telstra clear are screwing with you the same way xtra has screwed with me. The *******s tried to tell me that getting speeds of 15kb/s down were good. f**k off! rofl |

| 592693 | 2007-09-19 09:09:00 | Telstra technical assistance says a router will always drastically reduce speed. Any truth in this? No as far as my experience goes. Connected in Balclutha at average 4Mbps before and after using a router. Now in Timaru and connecting at average 2Mbps. With exactly the same PCs and router. Shows the old story about lines and distance to exchange to be true. Balclutha <1km and Timaru ~5km. Frank |
