592343 2007-09-18 08:10:00 Yes...I know that. But I don't want to have to actually set up a network when I get the ipod, simply connect/configure it to it.

Dear I say, but maybe I should take it to the mac forums :O

592344 2007-09-18 08:15:00 I've got a G604T manual I can email you (5MB). Send me a private message with your email and I'll send it off.
I had to do a firmware upgrade to make it work with my son's Nintendo DS, which if I can find the info on I'll email that too. I would wait until you try connecting before worrying about the firmware upgrade. I'd probably Google it to see if there are any reports of needing the firmware upgrade (although the upgrage was painless).

592345 2007-09-18 08:26:00 The manual can be found here (ftp://files.dlink.com.au/products/DSL-G604T-GenII/Manuals/DSL-G604T_GenII_Manual_v1.11.pdf). Start reading from page 30. For the security setting choose WPA, then WPA2 using the Pre-Shared Key option. stevie_boy (478)
592346 2007-09-18 08:42:00 The wireless is turned ON by default on the G604T (as it is with most wireless routers), and there may not even be a way to turn it off.
You could remove the antenna to reduce the signal if you aren't using it.

592348 2007-09-18 09:04:00 Well, no set date, but apparently "ships by 28th"

Will get it from Harvey Normans with 15% off tho, so maybe around the 1st of October.

592349 2007-09-18 09:12:00 Was just reading this blog by Herald tech gadget writer Peter Griffin who is in the San Francisco/Cupertino area visiting Apple. Peter sounded like he was surprised at the speed that the iPods are selling out as soon as they arrive in store.

Thats what I thought. Heck, why would you by a wireless modem if you were just going to turn the wireless off by default.

592351 2007-09-18 09:27:00 The Wireless function is shipped disabled on the DSL-G604T.
To enable the Wireless function:
Open your browser
Log into D-Link router by typing http://10.1.1.1
Enter username/password which is by default: username=admin/password=admin
Click HOME and click Wireless
Select Enable AP (Access Point) Tick

Setup WEP key security
1. Change the SSID (Service Set Identifier) to a unique description
ie: Smith_Family_House.
Note: Each Wireless device wishing to communicate with another wireless device
must use the same SSID.
2. Select the Shared Key option for Authentication to provide greater security.
3. Enable the WEP security option.
4. Change the Key type to ASCII and the key length to 64bit (5 ASCII characters).
5. Select Key1button.
6. Enter in a password that is the character size of the key length required.
For example a 64bit encryption use 5 characters, a 128bit encryption key requires
13 characters. (This WEP key passphrase will need to be entered at each
wireless adapter configuration stage.)
7. Click Apply to save.
8. Check to see if the Router’s WLAN green light is now ON.
9. You will need to reboot the Router with any changes made by going to Tools then
clicking Reboot Wireless Router.
