592675 2007-09-20 01:48:00 Whats with all this anti wide screen faggotry? its 2007, get with the times already.
Widescreens are nasty to game on.
Why get with the times if you don't like it?

592676 2007-09-20 03:28:00 sony not song ^^.. mybad i cant type right lol!!

I would disagree. I purchased a sony, and it had a horrible pink stuck pixel in the middle of the screen. I also think they have now stopped supplying consumer monitors in NZ

592677 2007-09-20 04:57:00 WS nasty to game on.....LOL, have you used 1?. In fact, all games written over the last 2 yrs have either native WS built-in or there is a patch to resolve the matter.

WS rock when it comes to FPS's as you get to see more of the playing map!

Man these forums get opinionated sometimes. The guy asked for advise, not opinion! Jeez

So, the reason why 24 alot more then 22, is because ALL 22' screen use the TN panel, which isnt true 8bit colour, whereas 24 and above are!, and are usually the better quality IPS panels.

592678 2007-09-20 05:36:00 Just to clear a few things up, i am clearly not a hard core gamer but will play the occasional game on the new monitor.
Will definetly be going widescreen as its pretty much the only option above 19" and the prices are considerably cheaper than 4:3 versions.
Thanks for the comments

592679 2007-09-20 09:04:00 I was in PB Tech in Penrose today and saw a 22in for I think $399 +gst. Maybe worth a look. gradebdan (2186)
592680 2007-09-20 22:13:00 If you're not doing any serious photo work or work that requires good colour reproduction, a 22" screen will be fine. Check some reviews first though. The Samsung & Viewsonics seem to be popular choices in the 22" range.

If you do need good colour, then get a 20" or 24" with a PVA or IPS panel in it - better viewing angles & colour reproduction.

592681 2007-09-21 00:17:00 An advisory we got early this month said that that the 4:3 format monitors are not long for this world - global production is all switching over to 16:10 WS in the near future & 4:3 monitors are going to become rarer & more expensive than widescreen. MushHead (10626)
