2007-09-18 07:21:00 | What settings do I need (ON THE MODEM) to make it work with the Touch? As Speedy says I wouldn't worry about it Wolforrest. Wait till you get the iPod Touch and then take it from there. In theory all you should need to do is to have the modem broadcast its Wifi signal (assuming it is a Wifi modem) and the iPod Touch will pick up that signal. Simple.

2007-09-18 07:28:00 | Ok then how do I go about setting it up (or is it as simple as clicking one button to "turn it on"?) so that when I get my Touch, it will automatically (somewhat) find my wireless network and connect to it. I've never set up a wireless network before, silly me and my wireless modem. | --Wolf-- (128) | |
2007-09-18 07:31:00 | Well I am not sure about the setup of the Wifi modem itself but the Wifi setup of the iPod Touch will about as straight forward as clicking on a button. Although I have a normal land line BB modem I actually use an AirPort modem on my iMac to avoid excess cables in the doorway. The setup process was pretty straight forward (for someone who has never set up a wireless connection) and took about 10 minutes which included installing the CD etc.

2007-09-18 07:34:00 | Yes, you've said that many times. So no one here knows how to simply activate the wireless on my modem? I could've sworn this would've been straight forward, guess not. | --Wolf-- (128) | |
2007-09-18 07:35:00 | Well look, even if you set up a wireless network now, how would you know if it works or not? You have everything connected by Ethernet so its useless setting up one now. It'll probably take about 5-10 mins to set up when you get it so don't worry about it now.

2007-09-18 07:36:00 | You would probably need to check that out on the Web - but wait till you get you iPod, otherwise it will be like learning to drive...without a car.;) | winmacguy (3367) | |
2007-09-18 07:41:00 | But I don't see why I need the ipod, seriously...don't I just need to TURN THE WIRELESS on? Then connect the iPod to it? Can't be THAT hard? | --Wolf-- (128) | |
2007-09-18 07:55:00 | How do you know its not on already??? | beeswax34 (63) | |
2007-09-18 07:55:00 | Because it's disabled by default. And if it is on, I have no user/pass set up for it, so my neighbors could be sucking my bandwith. Does anyone here actually have a wireless modem?

2007-09-18 08:04:00 | You would STILL have to configure the Ipod, like u do with any other wireless device, whether its PCI, USB or onboard. For the modem to pick it up. | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
