592798 2007-09-19 16:26:00 I have Divx and K-Lite codec install and I have the following media players

Media Classic
Windows Media Player
Real Player
VLC Media Player
Nero Showtime
Win DVd

I have avi, rmvb and some mpeg files

The problem is when I click the avi video file windows media player would launch but doesn't play but if I fast forward i can see the pictures that belong to the movie.

VLC Media Player launches but the sound skips every 1 seconds and there's no picture.

Win Dvd says it is a invalid format and doesn't even play the file

Media Classic has the same problem as windows media player

Real Player can play the video properly and the only player that can play the video file

With VLC Media Player would launch but the sound skips every 3 seconds. So say there were 10 seconds in a word.It would play the first 2 words smoothly then pause a second and then carry on .Does that every 2nd word.

The same symptom appears for Media Classic

I tried the files on the massey computer and apparently windows media player would play the files smoothly and there were no problems playing the rmvb in media classic.

Is there some sort of codec thats corrupting each other or something?

Anyone else having the same problem?

592799 2007-09-19 21:41:00 It seems like it is a codec problem, you need to remove Divx and K-lite codec and install just one. Google "vista codec pack" I moved from K-lite mega codec because K-lite seemed to randomly not work with AVI unless I reinstalled the codecs and that was a little annoying. So far I have had no problems at all and plays all the formats I want including rmvb etc. kennie (10559)
