What exactly seems to be the issue? hi beewax, of course there is no trouble for you if you have a Windows Mobile 5, but the things is, i only have Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition, there is trouble when i am trying to download the daylight saving patch Thanks jacky |

| 593824 | 2007-09-26 10:24:00 | My god, it doesn't matter: # Q. How do I know if I need to update my device? # A. You should update your Windows Mobile powered Pocket PC or smartphone if it uses any of the following operating systems: * Windows Mobile 2003 * Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition; or * Windows Mobile 5.0 * Windows Mobile 6 # To see the operating system on a smartphone, click Start > Settings > More > About. On a Pocket PC, tap Start > Settings > System tab > About. www.microsoft.com |

| 593825 | 2007-09-30 10:16:00 | Okay, for those that would actually care to read what the request is: the problem is that Microsoft has not issued a NZ daylight saving patch that is compatible with versions earlier than Windows Mobile 5. If you apply this patch to Pocket PC 2002, 2003 and 2003 SE it will fail to update. This has been tried. Does anyone know of a patch or the appropriate registry changes to work around this? MS did issue a patch earlier in 2007 for changes to U.S. daylight saving that included Pocket PC 2003 and 2003 SE, as did HP. This is only useful if you live or work in the U.S. |

| 593826 | 2007-09-30 10:22:00 | Welcome to PressF1:) Change the time manually. |

| 593827 | 2007-09-30 19:23:00 | Syncing the unpatched Pocket PC with a patched Outlook and Windows causes all appointments to be an hour early (a 9am appointment shows as 8am). Manually changing the time does not correct this, and will cause further problems next week when the old DST kicks in. Perhaps every March and October we could also manually write every appointment down on a piece of paper and stick it to the front of our PDAs so we know the correct times? Now, if only someone sold books of paper preprinted with the dates, that would be a real advance... |

Now, if only someone sold books of paper preprinted with the dates, that would be a real advance... last time, i got connected again to somewhere outside NZ, I think it was at India as i was talking to the India woman!!! and i really disappointed and outrages with the support that they providing I try to have a go with her and said look, it is not my responsbility for trouble shooting this daylight saving thing, it is HP responsibility to ensure every machine is upgrade to the requirement of the country and also it should be nice and simple.... well she said keep on saying that download the patch from HP and you will be fine, and i asked her if I want to lodge a case number if I am stuck or if i want her to troubleshooting right now, i am required to pay $32 because it is out of warranty (Hello, it is not outside of warranty, it is a requirement on the adjustment on the machine!!!) I think i should goto HP at the viduct directly and see what they can do!!! i am damn f***king annoyed!! because their support don't know anything about NZ stuff... |

| 593829 | 2007-10-01 19:27:00 | You are right, you shouldn't have to pay for a software patch! From what I have been able to see on their website, HP has not issued ANY patches for the NZ DST changes for iPAQs, regardless of how new or old they are. Apparently they were also tardy when the US DST were made early this year, so perhaps an HP patch will appear in time for the end of summer? From the advice appearing for NZ Apple computers, which also have no patch, it seems the best thing to do for now is leave the time an hour behind until the change automatically kicks in next weekend, then keep fingers crossed for a patch appearing before the end of summer. Meantime I'm hoping someone more geeky than me will craft a registry patch of their own and make it available. |

| 593830 | 2007-10-01 19:45:00 | Might pay to wait if you can till it changes next weekend. Just have to remember its an hour out. Heres a question WHO actually should make the patch - the PDA may be HP Branded, but the software in it is Microsoft. So is it HP or Microsoft - both will say its the other. - No win no matter which way you go.:waughh: |

| 593831 | 2007-10-01 20:59:00 | Should be MS. What if you bought a branded PC/laptop? Would every OEM have to release their own updates? | beeswax34 (63) | ||
