593256 2007-09-20 10:17:00 Second link.
Im unsure if it will take OSX (re: hardware specs for OS X are unknown by me)

The iMac will take OS X

Maximum OS: 10.3.9 (You might have to score an "old" copy of 10.3 (Panther) off trademe.

Minimum OS: 8.1

Introduced: August 1998

Terminated: January 1999

You should be able to dual boot between OS9 and OS X (once installed) by holding down the Alt/Option key during startup.

593258 2007-09-20 19:04:00 Ok, I have 2 discs here, one appears to be 'Software Install', and one appears to be 'Software Restore'.
Is this what I'm after: www.trademe.co.nz ? (my discs say 'fur iMac DV modelle' - for DV model)

Do imacs not use serial numbers or whatever for their licensing?

Correct. I can't access your link (I'm at work), but so long as they're also for a DV system then they should work on your computer. If they're not for a DV then they may (but probably won't) work on your DV.

If you have enough RAM (choose the first option from the Apple menu to check) then your best bet will be OS X. It'll run with 128 MB (for 10.3 or earlier) or 256 MB (for 10.4) but I recommend having at least 512.

593261 2007-09-28 06:16:00 Update: bought those discs off TradeMe. Got them today and reinstalled English version of OS 9. Mostly sweet (though when I open Quicktime, for some reason the whole screen reverts back to German). Is there a way to fully format the harddrive before I re-install?

Anyway, have also found a buyer for it (who would've taken it off my hands as is/was)

Too far back to remember.
