593290 2007-09-20 10:23:00 Hi, my computer completely froze while in the middle of a game (Natural Selection on Steam). No warnings, the screen just froze with the game image on the screen and the computer was completly unresponsive. I attempted to reboot the computer, which resulted in the monitor showing nothing on screen but flashing on and off like when it is unplugged from the computer. The hard drive light would stay on, no matter what, but I couldnt hear any activity from the hard drive. All system fans are going (psu, cpu and graphics card fans) and the CD-RW drive shows activity when rebooting but nothing is displayed on screen. There were no beeps from the computer, even after taking the system RAM out, just the same flashing on and off from the monitor and constant hard drive light.

System Specs are:
Albatron KM400A Pro M/Board
AMD AthlonXP 2000+
512MB generic DSE ram (Hynix I think)
Nvidia fx5600 128MB (leadtek or similar brand)
400W power supply

<Nothing has ever been overclocked>

Im not sure where to progress from here in terms of diagnosis. Any comments at all would be appreciated. Thanks for your time !

593291 2007-09-20 18:57:00 Do you have onboard graphics? Have you tried rebooting using the onboard (integrated) graphics? Myth (110)
593292 2007-09-20 19:05:00 Possibly your graphics card has died. pctek (84)

If it isn't beeping then it isn't POSTing - so there is no way to enter the BIOS and set the graphics to onboard.

MAybe, just maybe, try holding down whatever key got you into BIOS (delete ?) when you start the computer.

593294 2007-09-20 22:10:00 You might want to check if the AMD AthlonXP 2000+ is still working kennie (10559)
593295 2007-09-20 22:24:00 The actual Motherboard may also be faulty.
You mentioned no Beeps when removing the RAM -Not Good, it should go beep beep beep etc.

The hard Drive light staying on sometimes means its trying to loacte the drive, found it, but not getting all the signal through to work corrrectly.

Could also be a faulty Power Supply, but I expect not.

I looked up the board and what I found says it doesn't have onboard graphic, only AGP.

Try removing the Graphic Card, when you try to boot it, then it should go nuts with beeps - indicating no Graphic Card. If its still silent, its a good chance a new board is in order or the CPU has failed - but I'd be leaning more towards a failed MB. Boards tend to fail more than CPU's ( usually)

Other than that, CPU or motherboard have died. PSU seems to be delivering some power ok.
