594574 2007-09-24 22:46:00 I'm currently on Xtra's Explorer plan and as most of you know, the speeds I'm getting have been quite dissapointing especially during peak hours. (400 ping on GameArena BF2 servers)

To make matters worse, I've seen many other ISP's with plans which offer more bang for the buck so I've finally decided to switch ISP. My monthly budget is around $45-$55 and I usually use around 8-10GB a month. I've more or less narrowed down my search to the following:

ICONZ
FS UP/128K Down
10GB
$49.95/month

Kiwi Online
FS UP/128K Down
10GB
$49.95/month

Maxnet
FS UP/128K Down
10GB
$53.95/month

Xnet
FS UP/128K Down
10GB
$44.19/month

Just wondering if anyone is on any of the plans I just mentioned and if they could give me feedback on it.

Cheers.

594575 2007-09-24 22:50:00 Is Telstraclears cable available in your area? plod (107)
594576 2007-09-24 23:18:00 Unfortunately not; I live right next to Canterbury Uni so I'm quite surprised Telstra does not have cables running in my area. I've contacted them and apparently they "plan" to have them installed by the end of 2008 which is light years away. ;[ jason_f90 (3544)
594577 2007-09-25 00:30:00 Xnet
FS UP/128K Down
10GB
$44.19/month

This one.
I'm not exactly on that plan - my data is unmanaged.

594579 2007-09-25 04:56:00 Another vote here for Xnet, I've been with them since January - when Xtra dooped the country with Go Large. Before December I had been with Xnet for about 8 months I think.
Brilliant reliable service, great speed, great price, and real people in customer support.

594580 2007-09-27 07:53:00 I'm on Xnet - so far I give them 10/10. At peak traffic times they do tend to slow down a little (just like most of the others) but not for long :) braindead (1685)
594581 2007-09-27 09:27:00 Some IPS offer plans of FS up and down with a 5 or 6gb cap for about $50 a month, and you can buy extra bandwidth say like 10gb for $10 if you need it.
:)

594582 2007-09-27 12:24:00 Rather interesting reading here.
Am just in the process of changing from Xtra myself (boo to the Go Large plan).
Hope you don't mind if I expand this thread a little more, and ask people who are with Orcon to voice their opinions as I am leaning toward their Max D/L, 128 U/L 15GB plan.
Anyone got any comments to make on Orcon?

594583 2007-09-27 23:45:00 Hey there,
I'm currently on Xnets FLS down/128k up and the one thing that stands out for me is their customer service! Their phone is always answered by a REAL PERSON in around 10 - 15 secs. Another good thing is that you get free local traffic eg. Xnet hosted stuff like Recoil. They have fast speeds too. I'm around 1 -1.5km away from my exchange and I am topping speeds of 4mbit/s
Hope this helps

P.S i would recommend that you get the 1c/10mb plan instead of the 10GB plan so that you only pay for what you use :D
