594462 2007-09-24 06:31:00 Hello Friends, tired of problems with my PC, I am replacing it with a gift I am receiving: :-)

TOSHIBA SATELLITE P105-S9339
INTEL 2.0 GHz Core 2 Duo T7200,
200 GB HD SATA-150 4200 rpm
2 GB RAM PC2-5300 (667MHz)
Nvidia GeForce Go 7900 GS 256MB GDDR3

It comes with Vista Ultimate, I would like to know:

1. how does Win Vista performs in this machine?
2. how much compatible would this machine be with Win XP Pro SP2

So far I have read that if I install XP on it, the major trouble is that I will have to "Disable the dual mode touch pad and fingerprint reader and you're in business." (www.notebookforums.com)

Thank you so much for your so welcomed thoughts.

If you install XP, then you will miss out on the Media Centre features that Ultimate offers.

Don't get me wrong, you'll love using the laptop and it will do whatever you want with those specs, just saying that that is the weakest link.

STILL, don't go back to XP. Enjoy:D

594465 2007-10-03 23:28:00 Sorry Friends, I was some days out of contact with this forum. I do appreciate the replays and hints of Jen and Beeswax34. Then I think I will stick to this machine and its OEM Vista Ultimate. emmerc (12836)
594466 2007-10-03 23:37:00 The one thing i found when switching to Vista was that a took a week or two to get use the differences in the OS, don't be too hasty in ditching Vista.

Vista has an option to run software in a XP compatibility mode allowing software designed for XP to run happily under Vista. Ive only had to use it twice but both times it runs without a problem.
