| 594425 | 2007-09-24 04:04:00 | I am close to switching to XNet broadband, from my current ISP who have been most unsatisfactory. Xnet seem to be recommended here, so can current xnet user please answer the following questions. How good are Xnet at repling to email enquiries, such as if I had a billing query. I don't expect an instant response, but a reply within 5 days would be good. Do they supply a backup dialup connection as part of the package. eg. When the ADSL goes down(as it does happen), can we still connect to the internet via dialup for no additional cost. |

| 594426 | 2007-09-24 04:44:00 | Xnet usually take a couple of days to respond to my email queries, whether the query is about a connection or billing issue . You should definitely get a response within five days . It is even better if you can phone them up and discuss the problem as you get put straight through to a helpful person . If the ADSL goes down they will provide free dialup but you need to ask for it . I've recently had a few billing issues whereby some local calls have been charged as toll calls (I have my toll calls with them) . This has occurred on the last two accounts and upon contacting them they said it was an error . It was two weeks ago when they were first notified of this issue and today they left a message on the answerphone to say that they have now credited my account . As far as their help desk goes, they are very good . I lost my connection last week and the help desk pinpointed the problem in less than a minute . It was confirmed that it was a Telecom issue when I tried another modem then Xnet got onto Telecom very smartly . Xnet left a message on the answerphone the next day to say that it had been fixed . I rate Xnet's customer service as very good . (They would have to walk on water before they got an "excellent" :p) |

Regarding asking for dialup, does this mean that if our ADSL goes down, we will need to ask xnet each time it goes down, for a temporary dial up account to use. I suppose this isn't a major issue if that is the case. My current provider does provide a free dial up account, which you can also use if away from your broadband connect, although you must make sure that your ADSL modem is turned off for the dialup to login, so you are only using one connection at any time. |

| 594428 | 2007-09-24 06:17:00 | I'm not sure whether it is necessary to ask Xnet for dialup access each time or not but it would be prudent to check before you did so to avoid a bit of a surprise . On their FAQ page ( . xnet . co . nz/hsi/faq . shtml" target="_blank">www . xnet . co . nz) it states that free dialup access will be provided when transferring from another provider but they did give me free dialup access when my connection was down . As far as allowing you to use free dialup when away from home you will have to ask them about that . |

Also they have their own forum at www.geekzone.co.nz Excellent that it is a forum that isn't also operated by them. My current ISP has a forum where they promote their services and have a feedback section, but if you provide feedback that they don't like, they lock the thread and disable your forum login. Unfortionately the geekzone website doesn't have a forum for my current ISP. |

ADSL does sometimes go down when telecom are doing maintenance, which is a pain, but it happens. |

| 594433 | 2007-09-24 18:13:00 | I've been with xnet for about a couple of years. I've never had to e-mail them. I made my first phone call to them yesterday. The phone was answered within 10 seconds. You do not have to pay in advance either. At the end of each month I get a bill by email. I pay by net banking. That's been my only contact with them. As far as speed goes,I have always downloaded at between 3 and 3.5 Mbps.My upload speed is always above 700 kbps. If they've ever had any outages it must have been when I've been tucked up in bed. You can't ask for better than that.:D :D  |

Also they have their own forum at www.geekzone.co.nzIs it a good thing or a bad thing to have a forum dedicated to a particular ISP? It's just that I notice that Slowsh*t don't have a forum dedicated to them. But then again neither does Orcon :stare: |
