594849 2007-09-26 01:09:00 The power input setting seems to be correct.

Do you reckon the CPU should be OK before I try to get a MB from Trademe?

It's a Celeron 2.4 GHZ /128/488 CPU, it is worth salvaging? It's for my friend's 10 yr old son to play with.

Cheers

I dont think so anymore....

594850 2007-09-26 01:09:00 You shouldn't have problems with the RAM, as long as it's the same type (DDR, not SD).

I'd hope you'd be able to find something under $50, maybe budget for a little more?? I would have a look for you, but am a bit busy today. If you find something that looks good, post a link to it and we can have a look at it, if you wish. ;)

594851 2007-09-26 01:12:00 Just as long as the mobo you get supports 478 pin, supports Celeron CPU's and supports DDR 200/266 it''ll work.

If the ram you've got is 200 or 266, they may not work in a mobo if it only supports DDR 400/333.

Unless you change some settings in the BIOS. Or it'll change it for you automatically.

Or you buy compatible ram.

The RAMs are DDR400

Ah ok then the system wouldnt be running at 400 tho, as the mobo, according to the site only supports DDR 200/266.

Not DDR 333/400.

In that case, get a mobo that supports dual channel DDR 400, (thats if the 2 simms youve got are the same brand/speed etc), it maybe a bit faster.

Whats the FSB of the CPU?? 400 or 533?? Make sure you get a mobo that supports the CPU as well.

The CPU details printed on it reads:
Celeron 2.40 GHZ/128/400 (not 488 as mentioned earlier) SL6W4 MALAY 0347A011 T347A387 0790

From the above information, can I assume that the FSB is 400?

Yup that sounds right. 2.4 128k L2 cache and 400 fsb...

If you had SDRAM, I could give you the mobo I've got here.

Which I think still works, coz it's only 400 FSB (IIRC), but only takes SDRAM, NOT DDR ram.

Its still got the CPU in it (1.5 P4 CPU, not a Celeron).

I've got a 256 pc133 sdram lying in the box.

How much are you prepared to let go, Speedy?

594856 2007-09-26 02:04:00 Where are you? Auckland?

Would you want the CPU with it??

Yup. I'm in Auckland. Would prefer to have just the MB if it supports my Celeron 2.4 CPU.
