| 595826 | 2007-09-27 22:45:00 | Hi all I have a client who uses Xtra, and as xtra blocks 3rd party smtp servers, I need to set up his domain based email to use xtras smtp server But i can't get it to work (note the receiving side using the domains pop server works fine) His domain is NOT hosted by xtra so that rules out the officemail stuff here are part of the instructions i gave him (www.nigel.geek.nz) I have tried various variations send.xtra.co.nz smtp.xtra.co.nz port 25 or port 465 etc Buit if anyone has a third party domain working with xtra, please let me know what your settings are for the outgoing server and it's port And if anyone has an Xtra account they don't use that i could use to test this setup it would be appreciated as i am not an xtra customer so i am guessing at some of the settings from xtras help site (well not guessing, but i can't test the settings myself) Any help would be appreciated |

The pop worked fine too (It could receive email using my Ihug account, getting KOL email). BUT, SMTP didnt work either (thru Ihug). BUT, worked fine, once the person went home, and logged onto KOL. To send her email. |

| 595829 | 2007-09-28 01:23:00 | Hi Guys, Have set this up for several folk in Outlook and OEX (pre and post Xtra's new email upgrade) - should be fine if you use: smtp.xtra.co.nz Port 25 Un-check anything that mentions SSL or encryption for outgoing server (are usually 2x places) If still does not work the issue is elswehere, possibly in email app, firewall, AV software, or maybe even the ISP! Regards, Martnz |

You will be able to send via smtp . xtra . co . nz For some reason Xtras support people in the phillapines were telling people to use send . xtra . co . nz when xtras bubble burst which was incorrect, and was one of the reasons for the problems . |

| 595831 | 2007-09-28 05:35:00 | smtp.xtra.co.nz works for me. Domain is hosted else where and all outgoing mail is sent through the above. This is sent from exchange server but makes not difference. Port 25 by the way, standard setup not ssl etc. Since running a mail server have opted out of port 25 filtering but only did this as the option was there to do it. Wasn't having any trouble prior to opting out and still have none. | berryb (99) | ||

Buit if anyone has a third party domain working with xtra, please let me know what your settings are for the outgoing server and it's port I just use the default settings that outlook or Outlook Express give use e.g. I use port 25 & the smtp name of my host. |
