595676 2007-09-27 12:16:00 Strange this... Bought a new Vista business notebook today, ultraportable, nice Asus 6FM. the internet connection (wireless home network) worked a treat. So i installed the usual stuff, like zonealarm, office, Spybot and SD. Now I can not connect anymore, the little graph shows that it sees the network, but a red cross through the internet connection. All other PC's on the wireless network work fine, but none sees the new PC. So I switched all newly installed programs off, especially the firewall and still it does not work. it won't connect. now whilst writing this I realise that the problem started after I unsinstalled Norton. The notebook came with a test for 3 months of Norton safety package and I hate Norton. I tried to uninstall Norton, but was hard and deleted some files simply in the Norton directory....... Could there have something gone wrong there and am I looking at another consequence of norton ????

thanks for help,

Cheers

595677 2007-09-27 13:17:00 I solved it in the end by doing a system reset from the moment I came home from the shop.
Internet access is back.

Crap stuff, that Norton !!!

595678 2007-09-27 13:32:00 First of all, get rid of Norton. Get Avast AV and Comodo firewall, both of which are free, well supported and updated. beeswax34 (63)
