| 596995 | 2007-10-02 01:50:00 | I'm thinking of doing this too. www.trademe.co.nz These are the best I think. They're made in Germany, which means they're not made in China, which means there probably won't be any nasty surprises regarding the quality that you get with many TV cards. I've seen them highly recommended in a MythTV guide also (mediaportal should be the same story). And $145 is an amazing price. |

Ive read some posts in other forums that they may not be compatible with some nforce boards (may have just been one particlular Asus motherboard) The VisionPlus get some good mentions shop.networksavvy.org |

| 596997 | 2007-10-02 02:53:00 | Might be an idea to read some of the MediaPortal forums and wiki's etc. I think you'll find that a large number of the card available here in NZ aren't supported. The Hauppauge PVR-150's are fairly well supported if my memory serves me well. Either way doubt anyone on this forum will be able to help you much, your best bet is to do some of your own research. |

Looks like there is good support for the VisionPlus cards . The one on Trademe & the link below seems to be an obselete(old) model Ive looked on the medial portal forums, havnt really got much relevant info from them either . I just thought I'd post here as someone on this forum must be using a locally available card . Google search results are just 95% ad's & retailers pages |

| 596999 | 2007-10-02 03:28:00 | I can recommend the Skystar2 cards  I have two of them in my MediaPortal PC. The other option I was looking at was the Hauppauge Nova-S but there were none available at the time I wanted to buy. I bought both my cards from that guy in the TradeMe link. Easy to set up. I just followed the instructions from here. (http://mcraenz.googlepages.com/) |

We're talking about Satellite cards here. The PVR-150 is a regular analog TV card. The Skystar 2 is completely supported by MediaPortal. Looks like there is good support for the VisionPlus cards. The one on Trademe & the link below seems to be an obselete(old) model It's not old. It's a popular card in Europe and is the current model. |

All Freeviw channels are now in Widescreen and I get the widescreen on my mediaportal PC with the two Skystar 2 DVB-S cards. DVB-S uses MPEG2 - DVB-S2 uses MPEG4 |
