| 596994 | 2007-10-02 01:41:00 | Hi there I thinking about getting a PCI satellite card for my Mediaportal HTPC Just need some input/advice on whatto get, or are they all pretty much the same (3 brands are available on trademe, at reasonable prices) Any recommendations, brands to avoid?? Thanks |

They're made in Germany, which means they're not made in China, which means there probably won't be any nasty surprises regarding the quality that you get with many TV cards. I've seen them highly recommended in a MythTV guide also (mediaportal should be the same story). And $145 is an amazing price. |

The Hauppauge PVR-150's are fairly well supported if my memory serves me well. Either way doubt anyone on this forum will be able to help you much, your best bet is to do some of your own research. |

The other option I was looking at was the Hauppauge Nova-S but there were none available at the time I wanted to buy. I bought both my cards from that guy in the TradeMe link. Easy to set up. Its the twinhan card thats an old(er) model www.twinhan.com Alos, Seems I need a DVB-S2 for widescreen DVB-S isnt a widescreen card (from wikipedia), is this true?? |

All Freeviw channels are now in Widescreen and I get the widescreen on my mediaportal PC with the two Skystar 2 DVB-S cards. DVB-S uses MPEG2 - DVB-S2 uses MPEG4 |
