| 596832 | 2007-10-01 14:04:00 | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have a pretty strange problem. I use two hard drives and the seconday will not show up in windows but it does show up during boot. It says Primary Master - Hard Disk and Secondary Master - Hard Disk so I know windows is recognizing it. But a really strange problem I have is I use to have to put the hard drives backwards. I would have to put the jumper as ds slave on the hard drive i have windows on, and id have to put it on the secondary sleeve also, and put the primary slave as the ds master and put it on the primary sleeve to get both hard drives to work. Otherwise windows xp would not even boot up. Now I've switched back to Windows ME because I like it better then XP. But now I cannot get my seconday hard drive to show up in windows at all. No matter which way I put the jumpers or which sleeve I put it on. I sometime get an error that says something like ntlder upon bootup, can't remember which configuration brings up that error at the moment. But I've tried them like they are suppose to be and the secondary hard drive does not show up in windows but upon boot up it's recognizing the drive. The primary hard drive is a Western Digital 45g www.hd4less.com The secondary drive is Maxtor 40g www.dealtime.com I've also tried switching out cables, I have tons of them so I know that's not the problem. Also the motherboard I have, if that is any help is www.pcchips.com.tw |

| 596834 | 2007-10-01 20:04:00 | Thanks much, the problem is that the secondary hard drive is NTFS. I found a way with Partition Magic to convert it to Fat32 but when I try it says Partion Improperly Dismounted, so if anyone can help me out with that, that would be awsome =) | Volitle (10063) | ||
| 596835 | 2007-10-01 20:14:00 | you can make a boot floppy with PM use that ........ | drcspy (146) | ||
| 596836 | 2007-10-01 20:16:00 | Reformat it instead of converting it. If there's nothing on it. Or connect the NTFS hdd to an OS that can read it, copy the files (if there are any files on it), then format it. |
