596584 2007-10-01 01:17:00 Hi everybody,

I am trying to get my wireless network card to connect in Ubuntu and I need the Windows driver file, RT2500.inf. It is the driver for Ralink RT2500 chipsets. Unfortunately I can't just download the file from the manufacturer. Apparently I can use Win98 or Win2000 drivers.

596585 2007-10-01 01:41:00 The windows driver for this device can be downloaded from the dse site - just search the product code and it should come up with a support entry containing driver downloads.

Also you never know, there _might_ be a linux driver there too - dse is usually pretty good about providing them where it can, although often they're out of date and may need some tinkering.

Is This Download (sourceforge.net) what you are after

596587 2007-10-02 19:22:00 Hi guys,

I didn't try the DSE website as I managed to find the files I needed from my WinXP install. The .inf file was there I just had to search for it, it didn't show under device manager.

wainuitech, thanks for the link for the linux driver. I'm pretty sure that's the driver that comes preinstalled on Ubuntu which doesn't work properly when I set WPA security on my wireless network. I was trying to use a linux driver wrapper program which allows Windows based drivers to function in Linux to get around the problem. I have managed to get it installed but I have a whole lot of new problems to deal with!

Thanks again.
